    Huddersfield Town do the Double

It’s official; twice I’ve taken Huddersfield Town to Wembley this season, and twice I’ve defeated the opposition. With a 4-0 win over Southampton, and a 2-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday; I’ve won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and League One Play-Offs respectively, and taken my team to the next level; the Championship.

Having won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in back-to-back seasons, promotion to the Championship means that we sadly won’t be able to make it three in a row, what it does mean though is that in my second season as manager I’ve managed to get my team promoted, and have exceeded expectation in guiding my team to the second flight of English football.

Finishing in 6th place in League One, just two points outside automatic promotion; beating Swindon Town 5-2 in the Play-Off Semi Final was a very special moment for me, and it provided the spark to go on and defeat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 in the final. We had a magnificent end to the season, and were able to take that form and momentum into the Play-Offs.

Sanchez Watt will not be returning to play for us on loan next season, and we’ve also lost Jeff Hughes as the player refused to sign a new contract with the club. We’re hoping to bring Bolton players David Gbemie and Tope Obadeyi back to the club on a permanent basis after successful loan spells last season, and last season’s top scorer Federico Macheda is also back with us for next season, on loan from Manchester United.

A lot of young talent has come into the club including promising former Manchester City striker Alex Tarweh Nimely, exciting central midfielder Lewis McGugan, and another fantastic central midfield man Oliver Norwood. We may have lost Sanchez Watt, we have brought in some new players to fill the position though, and will continue to involve Huddersfield born Brian Kelly in plenty of first team action.

Interest in Brian Kelly has been high for some time now, he’s a promising young talent, and I believe that he’ll go on to have a fantastic career with the club. Still only 18, Kelly has already scored nine goals for the club, provided fifteen assists, and always looks very lively in first team action. He may be a wanted man, but Brian Kelly most definitely isn’t going anywhere.

Life will be tough in the Championship next season, I believe we’ll do okay though, and although it’s going to be tight; I do believe we’ll survive to see another season in the Championship. Top players will have to perform, and hopefully Federico Macheda and Kevin Kyle can find the form that saw them score 53 goals between them last season. Krisztian Nemeth provides further firepower up front, and 17 year old Simon Ford is another player we’ll be keeping an eye on next season. He scored 28 goals in 31 games for the reserves/under-18s last season, and potentially has what it takes to make it into the first team. He might not quite be ready for playing in the Championship on a regular basis just yet, we will be keeping an eye on his goal scoring talent at the club though, with a view to bringing him into the first-team squad at some stage in the season.

Huddersfield Town is now a team in the Championship (inside my laptop at least), and for the 2011/12 season we’ll be looking to perform to the best of our ability. Promotion to the Premier League probably won’t happen, maybe someday soon we can make it to the top flight though, and take Huddersfield Town to the very top.

Sanchez Watt in Football Manager 2009

Tried and tested at League One level, Sanchez Watt is an absolutely fantastic player in Football Manager 2009. From what I’ve read about him; he sounds like a real hot prospect for the future in real football too, my real life knowledge of the player is somewhat limited other than what I’ve read however, but what I do know is that he’s well worth signing in the game.

I had him on loan at Huddersfield Town in the 2009/10 season, and he was one of my absolute favourite players at the club. His skill in midfield is exceptional, and he contributes some absolutely stunning goals also. I was so impressed with Sanchez Watt that I had him back at Huddersfield in 2010/11, and if I can then I’ll be looking to bring him to the club on a permanent basis for the 2011/12 season (when all being well and good, my Huddersfield Town team will be promoted to the Championship).

I believe that Sanchez Watt would be a quality signing for any manager at Championship level and below, and it’s also my belief that it’s worth signing him if you’re managing a Premier League team also; he won’t be instantly ready for first team football, but loan him out to lower league clubs for a few seasons, and I’m sure that he could do a job in the Premier League. He probably wouldn’t be such a star player in the Premier League as he’s proven to be for me in League One; I still feel he’d be able to play at that level however, and if you put your faith in Watt and pay a bit of money for him, then with the right care taken over him in sending him out to appropriate clubs on loan – a few seasons into the game and you’ll surely be very glad to have Sanchez Watt in your team.

Sanchez Watt has been a huge help to me in achieving a number of big wins with Huddersfield Town, and moving the team up the league and into automatic promotion contention. He’s one of the best players that I have in my Huddersfield squad, and what’s even more brilliant is that I’ve had him at the club for two seasons now and never paid a penny for wages. Arsenal is not my parent club, they still accepted the decision to loan him out to me with 0% of wages paid though, and I therefore feel that it’s worth putting a similar loan bid in for him, whoever you happen to be managing.

Sanchez Watt has done an absolutely brilliant job for me, and in both seasons I’ve had him he’s managed an excellent average rating over the course of the season. He truly is a huge footballing talent, and if you’re in need of a good young central midfielder; look no further than Sanchez Watt as he’ll surely be able to do a good job for you.

As I say; I’ve only tried him in League One, as he’s done a brilliant job in League One though he’d therefore be a brilliant signing at this level and below, and I definitely do believe that he’d do a good job in the Championship also.

Sign Sanchez Watt in Football Manager 2009, and prepare to be impressed.
